Welcome To A “Wild” Year!
My name is Maria Marretta-Campbell. I am “wildly” excited about your child being in my First Grade Jungle. Our two days went very well! This is my sixth year teaching at the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts. However, I am beginning my twenty-first year as a teacher. I graduated from Louisiana State University with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1997. In May 1998, I graduated with a master’s degree from LSU. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2007 and renewed my certificate in 2016.
I believe first grade should be a very memorable and positive year. It is very important for your child to grow to his or her highest learning potential and love coming to school everyday. I plan to achieve this goal with every child in the class. However, I will only be able to do this with a joint effort that will include reading every night with your child, practicing math facts and vocabulary words, and supervising daily homework assignments.
If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please feel free to call me at school (344-0084), send a written note or email me at [email protected]. I will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Also, I am available for conferences after school by appointments on school days. I look forward to being your child’s teacher!
Sincerely,
Ms.Maria Marretta-Campbell
